Welcome to a zoo experience like no other - a menagerie of strange, exotic
and wondrous creations that are always happy to see you …just don’t
be surprised if their behaviour is a little unexpected, quirky or, dare we say,
odd!
‘Beasties’ is an interactive installation of electronically controlled
automata. Combining sound, movement and other surprises, and overseen by two
equally unusual keepers, ‘Beasties’ is designed to inspire fun and
ignite the imagination of all those who take part.
‘Beasties’ is the creation of Philip Gamblen and Kinetic Theatre’s
Miriam Ceh. Philip has been working as an arts practitioner, specialising in
the use of mechanics, electronics, and robotics to create kinetic art, since
completing an arts degree in 1998. Miriam is a well-established street performer
who co-founded Kinetic Theatre in 1996. Based in Perth, Kinetic Theatre has
worked extensively both in Australia and abroad, having been invited to festivals
and events in Japan, Europe, Canada and New Zealand.
